In this position, you will leverage your Pulp and Paper knowledge and learn to apply advanced process control, AI, and IoT 5.0 technologies to drive digital transformation and operational excellence within the Pulp and Paper Industry.
Education and Experience
To be successful, a candidate should possess:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Pulp & Paper Technology
- Proven knowledge in Pulp & Paper industrial processes
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis and process control, programming experience with DCS and PLC is an asset
- Some travel is required for this position, up to 50%, passport required
- Excellent capability with Microsoft Office
- Strong command of the English language in both written and verbal communication
Principal Duties
Major responsibilities are listed but not necessarily limited to the following duties:
- Apply your pulp and paper knowledge to analyze specific processes within a mill to identify areas where advanced control strategies can be implemented to improve efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with senior engineers and managers to assess existing processes, identify pain points, and understand production objectives; provide recommendations and technical support based on findings
- Learn to design and develop advanced control solutions tailored to the unique needs of each customer, may involve design of control algorithms and integration of sensors and instrumentation
- Oversee implementation of advanced control systems in a mill, may involved configuring and tuning control loops, conducting system testing, and ensuring seamless integration with existing automation systems
- Use Metris software to continuously monitor and analyze mill performance, including analyzing real-time data, diagnosing issues or deviations, and fine-tuning control algorithms as necessary to optimize process performance
- Improve product quality by minimizing variations, reducing defects, and ensuring consistent product quality
- Train customer personnel to operate and maintain the advanced control systems effectively to ensure long-term success
