Intern, Housing and Community Development

Application Info:

The Basics:

  • This role is on the Center for Municipal Practice team
  • The pay is expected to be $19-$22/hour
  • The key function(s) of this role call for Admin/Office Support, Research
  • The anticipated time commitment is 20-25 hours per week
  • The location of this role is Hybrid
  • The work hours are: Mostly within 9-5 (EST)
  • The end date is: 08/29/2025

What You'll Achieve:

  • Supporting both the Equitable Development and Housing Stability | Homelessness portfolios.
  • Conducting research and field scans to understand housing and housing stability trends and best practices that will inform recommendations for local governments across the country.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging housing trends pertaining to local governments. - Contributing content to case studies, the NLC website, blogs, reports, and other NLC resources.
  • Providing administrative support and other related duties as assigned.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • Long-form writing
  • Client services/customer service

Nice to Haves:

  • Graduate student with background in economics, public administration, public policy, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of local government and housing and community development issue.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized, as well as interested in supporting learning and training events serving government leaders.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with government officials and all levels of NLC staff.
