Legislative Services Internship (Academic Year 2025/2026)

Job Description

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a motivated and adaptable intern to join the Office of Legislative Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in policy, political science, and legislative services at the state level.
 

A successful intern will learn and demonstrate some or all the following duties and responsibilities:

Assist with tracking legislation and interim studies.

Help to maintain databases.

Monitor and attend hearings.

Aid in research projects as assigned.

Support the team in monitoring bill implementation.

Assist in coordinating hearing follow-up information.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analysis software preferred.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Adaptable and eager to learn about various aspects of the legislative process.

 

Other:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.

This internship opportunity must be completed on-site in Lincoln, NE.
