Job Title: Community Center Manager
Rate of Pay: $49,836.80 annually progressing to $54,288 annually after 4 years (MB06)

This is a full-time position with benefits as provided for within the B.C.A.M.P.S. labor agreement, although union membership is voluntary.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Manages the Community Center operations, including the coordination of rentals, programs, activities of the Community Center, supervises staff, analyzes cash handling, revenue and expenditures ensuring policies and procedures are strictly adhered to. Increase participation, programming, and/or activities offered by the Community Center. May coordinate or lead fitness activities, such as brief training for pickleball, weight room usage, etc. Runs the Summer Recreation Program, including hiring of seasonal staff, ensures safety protocols, and oversee programming of activities of the program. Trains employees, handles customer complaints, and has general oversight of the activities of the Community Center. In addition, coordinates rentals of the Fairgrounds buildings and grounds. Works under the Director of Recreation & Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages day-to-day Community Center operations, general supervision, coordination and scheduling of employees, building programming and recreational activities. Involved in approving and general supervision of new activities and special events.
- Coordinates and schedules building activities, including seasonal recreational programming.
- Works to increase profitability of the Community Center using a combination of sales, and growth strategies and/or cost control mechanisms. Works to increase current programming/participation and brings in additional programming for our residents.
- Market programs to our community to increase user base.
- Responsible for cash handling, completes daily deposits, purchase requisitions, payment of invoices, and payroll.
- Reviews and analyzes Community Center and Fairgrounds revenue and expenditures. Reviews and analyzes budget regularly.
- Coordinates the Summer Recreation Program. Includes hiring of seasonal staff, training, adherence to safety protocols and procedures, scheduling field trips and transportation, approving activities and programming and all other oversight responsibilities of the program.
- Coordinates building usage, rentals of the Fairgrounds building and grounds, including the annual storage program for pick up and drop off.
- Reports maintenance issues within the building and coordinates with maintenance personnel to rectify issues.
- Handles customer complaints, finds a suitable solution if appropriate.
- Operates recreation software
- When the pool is constructed and operational, oversee the budget, processing daily deposits, PO’s and invoices, work cooperatively with pool staff and management for coordination of programming.
- Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, business management or related field is required. Management, customer relation experience, and recreational programming are required. Experience in fitness and marketing is preferred. Must have strong computer knowledge and skills to efficiently operate software. Must have excellent customer relations skills and be able to effectively communicate with the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (With or without reasonable accommodation) This position involves sitting, being mobile, bending and/or standing for significant periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: Generally, 20 pounds of force up to 1/3 of the time.
