Student Ticket Writer
The Student Ticket Writer position for the UT Martin Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of the UT Martin parking regulations on campus that helps to provide an orderly environment for the normal business of the University to be conducted.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be and remain in good academic standing with the University and be enrolled in at least two semesters of an academic year.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work during daytime hours or evenings.
- Must have valid Driver’s License.
- Must be physically able to perform assigned duties.
DUTIES:
- Will patrol specified areas on campus and enforce parking regulations by issuing citations.
- Will be available for duty at the designated time in all weather conditions.
- Will be observant for any criminal or suspicious/unusual activities/situations and make notifications as required, to include safety violations.
- Will remain courteous to others and will refrain from becoming engaged in confrontations or explanations of departmental procedures and refer them to the Department of Public Safety.
- Will be able to work other assigned duties as dictated to include special event security.
SUPERVISION:
The Student Ticket Writer position will be subject to all University and Department of Public Safety policies regarding conduct and non-commissioned personnel. The position will report to the Accounting Specialist (Christy Smith) of the Traffic Office who reports to Lt. Jerry Garcia of the UT Martin Police Department.
SCHEDULE:
The Student Ticket Writers work during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Ticket Writers are scheduled to work Monday - Friday and during special events / activities.
They do not work when the University is closed or when school is not in session.
- Monday-Friday between 8am - 5 pm
- Ticket writers are hired as student workers, this is not a work study position.
- Can work no more than 20 hours per week.
