Description
Position Summary: The purpose of the internship is for the student to learn how the Communications department of a non-profit association assists with the organization’s mission by writing, editing, and coordinating projects. Work with a variety of departments, participate in the editorial process from proofing and drafting copy to a completed project, learn how to use the latest communication tools, and explore the vast range of materials that associations publish from books to magazines.
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Communications Manager
Supervision: N/A
Salary: $15.00-$18.92/hour
Key Responsibilities
PROOFING
- Help with proofing of PowerPoint Presentations
- Proofread email blasts
- Proofread electronic newsletters
- Assist with pre-formatting State Newsletters for the proofreaders
WRITING
- Help research topics for e-newsletters. Write some articles.
- Write standard/yearly content for Innovations magazine, with supervision
- Pull items together for State News Roundup, National News, or other communications vehicles, which are based off content in our other publications
- Drafting news posts for the intranet
Research and Organization
- Help compile Executive Committee report materials
- Assist with State Newsletter email newsletter analytics reports
- Work with our proofreaders on analyzing our current Style Guide formatting and re-search more interactive and streamlined updating for more frequent, user-friendly Style Guide updates. Incorporate the proofreaders’ updates and highlight areas for review by subject matter experts.
- Send follow-up/reminder emails for projects
- Assist with AMA Style research
Design
- Put e-newsletter copy into email template
- Help create badges and certificates
- Help create State Newsletter email newsletters in email template software program
Job Types: Part-time, Internship, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $18.92 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
