This position is located in the Microbiology Division-Clinical Microbiology program area within the Public Health Laboratory
Independently performs, interprets and reports highly complex and varied biochemical procedures on the Enteric Bench in Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. To include identification by instruments; Vitek MS and BioMIC V3, kits; api 20E and RIM, various traditional biochemicals, and use of specialized media for enteric organism.
Independently process samples / isolates received in Clinical Microbiology. Perform quality and inventory control on media and reagents as needed.
Independently performs and interprets complex serological procedures for the serotyping of organisms of epidemiologic importance, including Salmonella, Shigella, and E.coli - shiga toxin producing organisms by using traditional antisera and kits.
Coordinates special projects and provides consultative services and training in Clinical Microbiology.
Maintains complete and accurate records of work performed and results obtained.
Performs all related proficiency surveys and competencies as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline; or an associate degree or equivalent training in a related medical, scientific or technical discipline and journey-level work experience in a related field.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
