SIP 2025 - Captioning and Court Reporting Intern (Western Campus) at Tri-C Captioning and Court Reporting

Captioning and Court Reporting is the ability to listen to the spoken word and accurately transcribe it into digital text. If you like to text, talk and utilize technology, this career is for you.

Tri-C’s Captioning and Court Reporting program offers one of the most recognized and sought after two-year degree and certificate programs in the country. It allows students to choose a learning path that fits their lifestyle – steno writing, voice writing, digital reporting and/or transcription – completely online.

Currently, it is one of the most in-demand professions in the country. In courtrooms, boardrooms, conference rooms, classrooms, sport complexes and other venues, there is a growing need.

Program graduates typically have a job waiting for them with average starting salaries around $45,000 and the potential to earn more than $100,000 annually. Steno writers, voice writers, digital reporters and transcriptionists have the ability to maintain flexible work schedules, enabling them to fulfill family responsibilities and personal endeavors while pursuing exciting, lucrative careers. You can even work from home. This is exciting news to those of you who are attentive, focused, and driven!

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

The Captioning and Court Reporting (CCR) Program at Tri-C is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to support program initiatives. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on meaningful projects while gaining hands-on experience in program outreach, communication, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable discussing program information, working independently, collaborating with the CCR team, and engaging with the community to promote and support the program's mission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confidently discuss program details to create a positive and engaging experience for current and prospective students.
  • Work independently on large-scale projects related to program development, outreach, and student success.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Program Director, Program Assistant, and CCR faculty to discuss ideas, opportunities, and progress on assigned projects.
  • Contribute to team meetings with insights and updates on internship initiatives.
  • Represent the CCR program during community outreach events, helping to build relationships and promote awareness.
  • Provide assistance on large-scale community or college-based projects that align with the program’s goals.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with CCR jargon, terminology, and technology commonly used in the field.
  • Utilize CCR tools and systems as needed to support program activities.

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
