Operations Intern - Howard Women's Basketball (FWS)
Howard University Women's Basketball is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student for an Operations Intern (Federal Work Study). This role is essential to the seamless operation of the Women's Basketball program and provides valuable hands-on experience in collegiate athletics administration.
Responsibilities:
As an Administrative Team Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the operations of the program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, communication tasks, and organizational needs.
· Recruitment Organization:
o Reserve rooms and prepare staging for recruiting photos.
o Support the organization and recruitment of student-athletes.
· Team Travel Logistics:
o Assist with travel arrangements, including food, lodging, and transportation for away games and tournaments.
· Team Oversight:
o Conduct class and meal checks as assigned.
o Coordinate with student managers to ensure smooth operations.
Attend practices to provide additional support.
· Community Engagement:
o Assist in planning and executing community outreach and alumni events.
o Help coordinate and execute team bonding activities.
o Carry out partnership and outreach tasks to enhance the program’s community presence.
· Event Support:
o Travel with the team to away games and support home game operations.
o Provide planning and logistical assistance with summer camps, including registration.
· Equipment and Outreach:
o Support equipment management.
o Conduct Inventory as needed.
Qualifications:
· Current enrollment at Howard University.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities.
Interest in collegiate athletics and basketball is preferred but not required.
