Job Purpose

The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Direct Marketing, oversees direct mail, email, web, and social media outreach for soliciting and stewarding the College’s alumni, students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends for annual gifts up to $5,000 to support the major gift pipeline. The position also acts as project coordinator for the annual giving team and keeps the annual giving calendar updated. Collaborates closely with the Senior Director, Annual Giving, and annual giving team to develop the annual goals, strategy, and calendar for college-wide annual giving solicitations and stewardship. The Assistant Director develops and executes marketing plans and messaging for direct mail and digital communications for all campaigns.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least three years proven direct mail and fundraising experience required. Working experience in higher education is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, and possess effective written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate an understanding of sophisticated fundraising and marketing techniques, volunteer management, donor relations, and stewardship. Should have the ability to forge strong working relationships with others and a capacity for engaging confidence and trust among prospects and donors. Willingness and ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. Computer literacy with Word, Excel, and Raisers’ Edge or a similar CRM system and project management software required.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends. Some travel is required.

Works with other team members and edits all solicitations being sent from the annual giving office. Coordinates campaign message promotion with website, email, and social media outreach to alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff. Develops stewardship calendar to recognize and retain annual donors and increase both the number of donors and the average donation amount year-over-year.

Utilize project management software a to help ensure annual giving deadlines are being met. Analyzes program and campaign results, interprets giving trends, reports progress, and provides leadership in revising and enhancing programs where necessary to achieve fundraising goals. Regularly meets with colleagues and campus partners to review goals and strategies for solicitation and communications.

Activity

Assists with planning and execution of CofC Day each year. Coordinates with Alumni Affairs and IA colleagues, President’s Office, Academic Affairs, Athletics, Student Affairs, and Admissions to ensure campus-wide awareness and leverage participation. Collaborates with Alumni Engagement team to coordinate regional celebrations. Coordinates with the Associate Director and Assistant Director, Student and Young Alumni Giving, to develop plans for school, unit, and student engagement, solicitation, and stewardship to build a culture of philanthropy for the College.
