ABOUT THE Division

General description
Join the Information Technology division team as a Business Analyst Intern! Performs entry-level IT business analysis work. Work involves assisting with computer business analysis work within an Agile team to support software product development. May gather and document customer stories, communicate priorities to the technical team, and assist with system and acceptance testing. Supports Business Analysts and Project Managers in reviewing deliverables for quality. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work Hours

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 40 hours. Occasionally, work non-standard work hours to include additional hours on evenings, weekends and holidays.  Hours may change based on business need. 

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e.  report to office 3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an accredited four-year college or university, or a recent graduate within one year with major in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional or Academic experience with project management principles and methodologies.
• Knowledge of software development processes, especially Agile.

 


Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of courses related to business analysis or project management (e.g., PMI-PBA, PMI-CAPM).
• Previous internship or project experience related to IT or business analysis.

 


SUMMARY OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary work office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties.  It requires extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact.  The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies.  It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.  Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers.  Must be able to lift and transfer at least 35 pounds from the floor or from a cart onto a work surface (desk or table). Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of each shift.

Employees are required to use their personal mobile phones as a part of 2 factor/multi factor authentication for accessing CPA systems securely. You will also receive critical/emergency calls/texts on your cell phone to ensure immediate communication.

 


In this role you will: 

• Documents user and system stories/requirements using standard methodologies and communicates stories/requirements to technical employees for design and development of systems. May assist in coordinating the collaboration of stories/requirements documents produced by multiple Business Analysts or Product Owners. Assists in reviewing and monitoring system design and development functionality.
• Assists the Project Management Office (PMO) in analyzing project requirements and objectives. Supports the PMO Manager in enhancing project processes and methodologies. Gathers and documents project-related information and stakeholder feedback. Assists in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and documentation. May collaborate with team members to track project progress and identify areas for improvement. Participates in meetings to provide input on project status and updates. Assists with project management tools and databases maintenance. May conduct research to support project initiatives and best practices.
• Assists in coordinating, analyzing, and resolving production system defects according to defined team processes and standards.
• Assists in developing and documenting test cases and scenarios used to test new systems and enhancements to existing systems. Communicates requirements and test cases to the testing team(s) to ensure the thorough testing of all test cases and scenarios.  
• Conducts testing of both new systems and enhancements to existing systems to ensure the system is properly tested prior to moving to production.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned to support PMO or IT Division
