SHERIFF'S RECORDS AND IDENTIFICATION MANAGER 

Are you ready to make a difference in the community and work with an exceptional team? The Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the role of Sheriff's Records & Identification Manager.  

The Sheriff's Records & Identification Manager is a unique one-position management role within the Sheriff's Office. This position is tasked with overseeing the operation of the Records Division, which provides comprehensive records services to Sheriff's personnel, the public, and various local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies.

Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, the Sheriff's Records Division delivers professional support and services to the Department, the broader law enforcement community, and the residents of San Diego County. The Division is responsible for maintaining a wide array of criminal-related records and databases, including those pertaining to custody records, crime and incident reports, protective service orders, and warrants of arrest. The Division is organized into four key sections: Admin Section, Booking Section, Cases Section, and Warrant Section.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, AND five (5) years of supervisory-level experience in records or database management, preferably in the area of law enforcement; OR,
  2. An associate's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, AND seven (7) years of supervisory-level experience in records or database management, preferably in the area of law enforcement.

Notes: Additional years of experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis; OR, completion of appropriate course work from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

EVALUATION 

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental application.
