Career Ambassador
Career Ambassadors: 2025-2026
The Career Center is hiring student Career Ambassadors to join us for the 2025-2026 academic year. We are looking for students who demonstrate and want to continue to learn best practices in professional development and sharing that knowledge with their peers and the Suffolk community! This is a great opportunity for students to gain great insight, knowledge, and opportunities that will help them reach their own professional goals.
Award Amount: $900 is a grant which will be awarded towards your tuition per semester of employment. $1650 is earned over the course of each semester. You will be paid bi-weekly for the hours you have worked.

Requirements:
- Full-time, undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester at Suffolk University.
- Must be physically located in Boston for the duration of the academic year, breaks excluded.
- May not work more than 10 hours per week in another work study or ambassador-type job on campus.
- Must be able to show at least 5 hours of availability in their schedule each week during standard work hours (Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm).
- Must be available to attend full-day training on Thursday, August 28th and Friday, August 29th (prior to classes).
- Must be available to attend evening and/or weekend events as assigned (including Suffolk Open Houses and Suffolk Showcases). Specific dates will be assigned prior to training.
Top candidates will have:
- Eager desire to understand the services provided by the Career Center and the key competencies of professional development that are critical to our students.
- Strong and professional oral verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Solid knowledge of campus resources and opportunities for student involvement.
- Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative in their work.
- Ability and desire to represent the Career Center in a professional and excitable manner to students, faculty, alumni, and employer partners.
What Career Ambassadors will do:
Peer-to-Peer Support
- Review foundational documents (resumes, cover letters) of other students via appointments and/or weekly drop-in hours.
- Guide students on how to use Career Center resources and technology in their career journeys.
- Act as a resource to faculty and TA’s to help effectively introduce career readiness into classrooms.
Events & Outreach
- Assist with events such as career fairs, panels, and networking events throughout the year.
- Represent the Career Center alongside professional staff at signature University events, including Open Houses, Showcases, and others.
- Present to student groups, faculty, residential halls, and classrooms regarding career services, career events, career technology, and career development.
- Market the services and events of the Center by assisting in creation of social media content and outreach to student clubs and residence halls.
- Table in appropriate areas on campus to increase awareness of Career Services and upcoming events.
Team Relationship Building
In addition to being part of the Career Center and the Career Ambassador Program, CAs are placed on a focus area team based on their preferences to work styles, interests, and goals. Teams consist of other Career Ambassadors and a Professional Staff supervisor, with teams in the past consisting of Marketing, Career Education, Career Communities, Events, and various special project-based initiatives.
- Connect and develop relationships with other Career Ambassadors on your focus area team and the larger CA team.
- Build relationship with the Career Community advisor of your chosen major/career interest.
- Engage and establish relationships with other Career Center team members including the full-time professional staff, graduate fellows, student workers, etc.
Equity and Access
- Attend and participate in continued trainings throughout the year via our monthly in-services, professional development opportunities, etc.
- Promote our Equity & Access mission by fostering an inclusive environment that empowers everyone while building and navigating their career plans.
- Be knowledgeable of our diversity, equity and inclusion resources for students of marginalized identities including but not limited to students of color, students with disabilities, veterans, women, LGBTQ+ students, first-generation students, international students, and undocumented/DACA status students.
