As part of our team, you’ll apply engineering principles to design, construct, operate, and maintain our electric distribution system. Your role will evolve based on your experience, with entry-level engineers focusing on foundational tasks and senior engineers taking on leadership and oversight responsibilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Plan and execute projects that enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Respond to emergencies and support outage restoration efforts.
- Analyze customer needs to optimize electric distribution facilities.
- Collaborate with field teams, customers, and community stakeholders.
- Leverage tools like GIS, SAP, and CYME to ensure operational excellence.
- Represent UPPCO as a participant in the local community and outside organizations.
- Must be reasonably available and responsive to after-hours callouts.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
Entry-Level Engineers
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (power option preferred).
- Eager to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Mid-Level Engineers
- 3+ years of experience in electric utility design, planning, or operations.
- Proven project management skills and technical expertise.
- Michigan P.E. license preferred.
Senior Engineers
- 10+ years of experience with electric utility systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in engineering projects and operations.
- Michigan P.E. license preferred.
All successful applicants must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel frequently amongst UPPCO’s service territory and occasionally outside the service area. In addition, residing within 30 minutes of UPPCO’s Houghton, Michigan Service Center, under normal driving conditions, is preferred.
