Summer Camp Group Advisor

This position is responsible for the supervising, overseeing and supporting of group staff at day camp, which will include providing support and coaching to assigned unit staff with 1) participant management, including: personal care, behavior intervention, activity planning and implementation, and documentation; as well as 2) collaborating with the Program Manager in management of staff interpersonal communication and conflict resolution.

Essential Functions & Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist in training, supervising, and evaluating unit staff.
    1. Take active role in assisting with trainings during Staff Training Week. 
    2. Meet on a regular basis with each unit to review staff performance and allow for open discussion for concerns, challenges and achievements.
    3. Assist in providing ideas to unit staff on activity adaptation, camper engagement, camper communication, transitioning between activities, etc. 
    4. Walk around during the camp day to observe your units’ functioning, assist unit staff as needed and provide immediate suggestions and feedback.
    5. Be a role model for staff on how Stepping Stones staff performs.
  • Strive to ensure the health and safety of all campers.
    1. Strive to maintain safety by regular and careful monitoring of participants.
    2. Thoroughly review all of your participants’ applications and be familiar with pertinent information such as individual support needs, allergies, photo releases, behavioral concerns, dietary or medical needs, etc.
    3. Abide by any best practice or behavior support plan when intervening in a behavioral support situation and comply with all Emergency Procedure protocols. 
    4. Respond promptly to all calls for assistance during the camp day. 
    5. Provide behavioral intervention as needed.
  • Be a productive liaison between unit staff and Program Manager.
    1. Communicate daily with Manager to discuss any challenges, ideas, or concerns.
    2. Assist in planning and leading staff meetings. 
    3. Maintain an open line of communication between unit staff and the Manager.
    4. Assist in Driveway/Check-In and Check-Out as instructed by the Manager while ensuring a positive relationship with caregivers and being a professional representation of the agency. 
    5. Fulfill assigned role(s) during all emergency procedures as instructed by the Program Manager.
  • Coordinate and comply with standards and regulations, as well as adhering to external and internal documentation requirements.
    1. Comply with the standards of paperwork and documentation.
    2. Maintain a high degree of professionalism with co-workers, volunteers, participants, guardians and visitors. 
    3. Do daily checks of each unit’s paperwork, including waiver and CDL reviews; ensuring that all paperwork is up to date and any corrections have been made. 
  • Other assigned duties as required.
