ANYTOWN® Summer Intern

As a Summer Intern for Community Tampa Bay' ANYTOWN® program, you would help us with the following: 

ANYTOWN® Intern - MUST be available for our residential summer youth program, ANYTOWN® (June 8-13 AND July 13-18). This program brings together over 100 youth participants, ages 14-18, over two separate week long sessions (6 days, 5 nights). 

This is an immersive diversity and leadership education program focused on cultivating inclusive leaders. In your role, you will co-facilitate dialogue groups, lead diversity content workshops, and support dorm and community interactions. Interns will engage participants (high school aged youth) in identity development activities and advocacy around topics of diversity including race, gender, ability, sexual identity, faith, ethnicity, age, nationality and class. You will also help to promote civic leadership and social justice through education, advocacy, cross-cultural interactions and dialogue as means to affect a positive vision for change. 

There is required leadership development training for volunteer camp counselors & interns  which will equip you with the necessary skills to provide these life-changing experiences for the youth at ANYTOWN®. If you have scheduling conflicts, do not let it deter you from continuing with the application. We will do our best to be as flexible as possible. 

Office Support – Includes helping team members with programming support: 

  • Creating flyers & other marketing materials
  • Communications with other organizations & community members 
  • Research
  • Organizing and filing papers in the office
  • Making and responding to phone calls & emails
  • Attending tabling events to promote upcoming CTB programs & ANYTOWN®

We are also looking for someone with an open mind and positive attitude, a willingness to engage in difficult dialogue to expand one’s knowledge, and get uncomfortable for the sake of education. Also, someone who exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills when engaging with others; displays creativity and critical thinking; takes initiative and problem solves. We are looking for someone who works well with youth and enjoys working with youth! 

After working with CTB, you will have strengthened your leadership and facilitation skills, made an impact on someone else’s leadership journey, and cultivated long lasting friendships.
