Position: Program Coordinator – School-Based
For more than 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota (BBBSCM) has been creating meaningful, professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships between Bigs (mentors) and Littles (local youth) in a five-county service area. Big Brothers Big Sisters strives to help all youth achieve their full potential: 97 % of youth surveyed improved their academic performance during their time in the program, and 95% reported increased confidence. The Program Coordinator has a direct impact on those results.
Position Description: This position will be responsible for overseeing a school-based program in the Foley School District. The Program Coordinator provides support and guidance to volunteer mentors and youth to ensure our mentoring matches are safe and impactful. Be a trusted resource for mentors, kids & families and help them establish a strong sense of affiliation with our agency. Help lead children on a path towards a brighter, more promising future. Candidates should be excited about meeting new people and making connections with volunteers and local youth, a to-do list that changes daily, and being invested in and supportive of the local community.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct child and volunteer enrollment.
- Create matches (pairing the Bigs and Littles) and provide support throughout the match
- Maintain accurate and timely records for each individual and match
- Continually assess the match relationship to ensure child safety, relationship development, positive youth development, and volunteer satisfaction
- Represent BBBSCM in the community at local recruitment events, and in local schools.
Job Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (in social services or related field preferred) or in process of completing this within six months of hire or an Associate’s Degree (in social services or related field preferred) plus two years of relevant work experience in a related field or four years of experience in social work, counseling, social services, child development, etc.
- Ability to demonstrate assessment and development experience and the understanding of child development and family dynamics
- Must have a valid driver’s license, means of transportation, and meet program required auto insurance minimums

- Good oral and written communication skills
- Self-directed and motivated

- Ability to assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising, and/or negotiation

The Basics
- Hours: 40/week (some evenings and weekends)
- Starting wage: $19-$24/hour (40 hours/week, non-exempt)
