ABOUT HandsOn Greater Phoenix:
For nearly 30 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources. HandsOn VISTA members will improve capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas. In addition to the site-specific work of the individual role all of our VISTA members: participate in 2 AmeriCorps of Service, lead projects at 2 HandsOn community service days, attend monthly VISTA team trainings with the other HandsOn VISTA members, and monthly community volunteering project opportunities.

Member Duties :
Join the City of Phoenix – Housing Department & help to replace distressed public housing with high-quality mixed-income housing that is well-managed & responsive to the needs of the surrounding neighborhood! HUD residents of some Choice Neighborhood developments experienced reduced neighborhood poverty & significant increases in income. The successful applicant will support & strengthen several environmental efforts taking place alongside Choice Neighborhoods programs. You will do this by developing trash & recycling education campaigns at multiple sites within the target neighborhood, developing volunteer programs for environmental stewardship & assist community groups with identifying & applying for funding opportunities for environmental projects. The future member should have the ability to be adaptable, patient & have the ability to demonstrate self-motivation & initiative. English-Spanish Bilingual preferred &/or have a knowledge on the digital divide but is not required.
