Teacher - ESE / Career Transition Program Coordinator

Job Summary:
The ESE Teacher/Career Training Program Coordinator is an ESE lead responsible for planning, implementing, and leading TLA’s Career Training Program (CTP). This position will be responsible for coordinating with students, parents, community members, and school administration to ensure students within the program are receiving training related to skills that will lead to employment and successful independent living.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as ESE teacher on record for CTP students
- Write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) including student data progress monitoring and attend IEP meetings.
- Implement standards-based instruction related to career experience courses:
- Implement lesson plans that focus on life-skill building that will benefit students as they move towards having greater independence.
- Evaluate the needs of students and effectiveness of instruction to adjust programs to
- meet the needs of all students.
- Support the collection of data and documentation that is required.
- Ensure all students are receiving appropriate experience off-campus, on-campus, and at job sites.
- Manage Career Program schedule including individual student work schedules and job coach schedules.
- Coordinate transportation and supervision to maximize school resources.
- Evaluate student performance at job sites.
- Evaluate student safety and job sites.
- Research, contact, and build/maintain relationships with organizations, businesses, UCP
campuses and other agencies that job coaches/students can collaborate with
- Work with student teams to develop a transition plan that will lead to students gaining paid employment.
- Prepare required reports and maintain appropriate records.
- Communicate with student’s parents/guardians regarding student performance, transition plans, and day-to-day operation of the program.
- Create quarterly out of school social activities to enrich students’ experiences.
- Research and assist in securing other funding sources (i.e. Grants, Voc Rehab) for the program
- Link all stakeholders to resources/services that are available to students after graduation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Valid Florida Teacher Certification in ESE preferred
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- First Aid/CPR Trained
Minimum Experience/Skills
- Classroom Teaching Experience
- Experience with transition planning
- Experience with writing transition IEPs
- Experience with scheduling
- Experience with community outreach
- Communicate, listen, write, and speak effectively.
- Have experience in making decisions in a timely manner and in the face of ambiguity. Consider consequences of decisions, willingly stands by decisions, and communicates about decisions.
