Dental Clinic Cashier- Work Study

Position Title:  Dental Clinic Cashier

Organization:  IU Indianapolis

Department/ Office:  IU School of Dentistry

Hourly Wage:  $15

Number of Openings:  2

Working Hours: We are looking for someone who can cover the evening clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 pm.   

This position is for a Work Study eligible student. (please ensure you have a Federal Work Study award showing in your financial view on your student account before applying)

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

The Dental Clinic Cashier will provide customer service to Dental Patients to include the following:

  • Answering patient questions
  • Taking payments
  • Effectively note accounts with patient's payment arrangements when applicable
  • Parking Validation
  • Balancing cash drawer
  • Process/post insurance payments
  • Contact patients to update addresses due to returned mail
  • Return voicemails for payments

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Availability:  
    • Must be available to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the Spring 2025 semester 
  • Education/Experience: 
    • Experience working in a clinic setting is preferred
    • IU School of Dentistry student preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes:  

A successful candidate: 

  • Must be able to spend the majority of shift spent in a stationary position in the front desk area
  • Must be able to operate a computer and telephone
  • Must be able to communicate with patients in a positive manner.
  • Must be able to process cash transactions, and balance drawer at end of shift

Work Environment:

This position is in a busy clinical front desk setting. Patients arrive during all business hours with questions and appointments.
