IT Intern | American Campus Communities

The IT Intern position is designed to establish a strong entry-level foundation and understanding of basic concepts related to Information Technology (IT). This position will gain meaningful insights and provide strategic support for the day-to-day work of IT and key business objectives at American Campus Communities (ACC). This position will provide hands-on training, establish foundational skills and knowledge in IT, and provide the opportunity to work with and learn from industry professionals. 

 

Key Functions: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Assist Cybersecurity Analyst to include, but not limited to: Email Phishing Alerts Analysis and Follow-up, Vendor Onboarding Cyber Analysis, End Point and Other Cyber Monitoring Alerts Analysis and Follow-up, Patching Compliance Analysis, Zscaler Web Proxy Alerts Analysis and Follow-up, etc.
  • Assist developers with Python webservices and data platform development to include, but not limited to: Coding new service adapters and integrations, Coding new data pipeline feeds, Fixing bugs to existing code, etc
  • Assist Business Analyst with process modeling to include, but not limited to: Unified Modeling Language (UML) business activity modeling, Custom Operating Platform modeling, etc.
  • Work with Quality Assurance, Cloud Services Analyst, Network Analyst, and support to include, but not limited to: functional and integration testing, scripting cloud environment builds and monitoring, basic network configuration and troubleshooting, and participate in resolving Tier 1 IT support calls, etc.
  • Ensure effective verbal and written correspondence to requests, protect confidential information, and explain policies when necessary.
  • Learn from department leaders how to identify the most impactful ways for data and analytics to drive decision making and profitable growth.
  • Participate in meetings as requested.

Education/Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development, Cybersecurity, Game Design, or a related field.
  • 3.5 minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) (preferred).

Certificates/Licenses:

  • N/A

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office applications – emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic computer and network literacy.

Skill in:

  • Excel functions and features.
  • General time management.
  • Basic administration and organization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.

Ability to:

  • Work independently as a self-starter.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Comprehend multiple abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.
  • Remain detail oriented while multitasking and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret business reports.
