We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Spruce Pine to continue, develop, and expand our high-quality quartz business
As a part of the Quality Operations, the Manager Quality Assurance role will empower you to be responsible for determining the quality processes and safeguarding the quality of our product, our processes at our plants, and our customers. You will develop and continuously improve quality assurance & quality control.
Your Impact in This Role
As a Manager Quality Assurance, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Define quality processes and roll out across the company and plants, including RCA, FMEA, Kaizen, and 5S
- Responsible for the quality management system (QMS)
- Report quality KPIs to VP Operations Americas to monitor the progress of overall quality transformation
- Running internal QM audits and supports/coordinates external audits
- Coordinate and follow up the implementation of a uniform system for quality assurance
- Manage tools and follow-up for Quality Assurance incl. customer complaints, quality concerns, audits and continuous improvement issues and ISO-standards
- Support and provide benchmarks within Quality improvement issues
- Provide practical input & follow up with other disciplines for making relevant guidelines/rules/routines.
- Work closely with operational leadership & support services in pursuit of sustainable improvement of output and quality and to identify improvement opportunities as well as set final product and intermediate specifications for product
- Develop & implement an effective measure of performance using standard KPIs
- Maintain liaison with ERP and BI/MIS team to ensure implementation of KPIs and reports
- Develop documentation to ensure staff across the organization can be trained in new optimized production processes from a quality point-of-view.
- Lead change initiatives
- Perform quality audits on a regular basis
- Responsible for release of final products to customers, ensuring all products shipped to customer meet internal and customer quality specifications
- Determine and organize training curriculum for workforce on best practice quality processes
- Prepare sites for external audits for quality risks, in line with industry regulations
- Motivate & evaluate the team members to enhance team collaboration and support their individual development and growth.
What You Bring to the Table
- Engineering degree at University level or relevant Academic background in the field of Quality management and /or Chemical Processing / Pharmaceutical
- 10+ years of experience working in similar position with recent job-based training on latest developments in the field of Quality Management
- Experience with key quality processes and frameworks, including ISO9000 certification, FMEA, Kaizen and 5S
- Strong knowledge of production strategies and in depth understanding of different production processes
- Technical understanding of manufacturing processes of related industries (mining and mineral processing)
- Experience in project work & setting priorities
- Proven track record of steering & implementing change
- People management & leadership skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to synthesize & simplify complexity
- Solutions-orientated and strong problem-solver with a pragmatic & hands-on approach
- Adaptable, flexible with the ability to work to numerous pressurised deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Fluency in written and spoken English (any additional language is a plus)
