Summer Naturalist

Overview:

The Moebius Nature Center is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Summer Naturalist to lead our summer educational programs. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about nature, education, and working with children. The Summer Naturalist will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging lesson plans, managing volunteers, and fostering a love for the natural world in participants of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning: Develop and implement daily lesson plans that engage children in hands-on learning about natural sciences, local ecosystems, and outdoor skills.

Crafts and Supplies Management: Design nature-based crafts for children, organize and manage supplies, and coordinate shopping lists with volunteers for efficient procurement.

Behavioral Management: Employ effective behavioral management strategies to guide children of varying ages and developmental levels, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.

Natural Sciences and Forestry Knowledge: Possess or quickly acquire knowledge of natural sciences, local forestry, and wildlife, and apply this knowledge in educational settings.

Volunteer Management: Lead and delegate tasks to a team of volunteers, ensuring that all activities run smoothly and efficiently.

Public Speaking and Storytelling: Confidently speak in front of groups, including children and their families, and engage children by reading nature-related books
