Event Management Intern

Position Summary:

2025 Summer Internship Opportunity at one of Northwest Iowa's finest event venues!  Parks Boat Club is a 250-300 person event space located above Snappers Turtle Bay Cafe on Lake Okoboji. With picturesque views from our wraparound balconies, we host a variety of events from graduation parties and corporate events, to fundraisers and weddings every year.  This position will report directly to the Event Coordinator, Catering Manager and Food and Beverage Manager.  Various duties associated with event sales and management will be covered.  At the conclusion of the summer, the intern is expected to be capable of coordinating an event on their own.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Event Setup & Teardown
  • Housekeeping of venue space; making sure it is tip top at all times
  • Guiding venue tours and answering questions for prospective clients
  • Assisting in BOH catering preparation & cleanup
  • Assisting in FOH guest service and table clearing
  • Bartending, serving, expo, or any role that is conducive to operation of the event
  • Conducting client meetings and taking thorough notes
  • BEO creation and operation of Event Management software
  • Assisting the marketing department with customer appreciation events
  • Liaison to marketing for events and promotions for both the Boat Club & Restaurants
  • Liaison with Excursions department for events booked on our boats
  • Invoicing, payment, & reconciling of accounts including tip disbursement
  • Sales aspects and pulling accounts from the surrounding community

 

Required Experience/Competencies:

  • Team Player
  • Self-Starter
  • Detail-Oriented
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Social Media, design, marketing and photography experience are a plus
  • Previous Hospitality experience preferred, but not required



 

Weekend, evening and holiday hours are required and tips are available.  This is a paid internship.  Compensation:  $14/hr plus gratuities.  Internship will run from approximately mid May through Labor Day weekend.
