Summer Research Assistant

Summer Research Assistant

Job Description

  • Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret economic data
  • Research various economic, fiscal, and legal issues
  • Draft, proof, and edit reports, presentations, and visuals
  • Create and manipulate spreadsheets for purposes of economic and fiscal modeling
  • Conduct multivariate analyses, particularly regression analyses, as part of the statistical and econometric aspects of the client work

Qualifications

  • Self-starter, internally motivated
  • Thrives in collaborative, project-oriented settings with small groups of professionals
  • Familiarity with settings involving complex problem-solving
  • Analytical perspective
  • Working towards or having completed a BA or BS or Master's in Economics or Public Policy, or equivalent experience
  • Strong writing and proofing skills
  • Familiarity with the Philadelphia region and its economic, fiscal and transportation issues
  • Technical research experience: identifying sources, collecting and interpreting data
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Basic working knowledge in R or Python a plus
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet modeling, fiscal and cost/benefit analysis and/or regression analysis a plus
  • GIS experience required
  • Demonstrated interest in spatial data
