Venture Capital Sourcing Analyst Role:

Every successful venture-backed deal started at the same point: being discovered. That’s the role of the Sourcing Analyst. They are at the front lines of learning about and exploring new, promising companies that will disrupt the status quo. As a Sourcing Analyst, you will play an important role in supporting the broader team in identifying and pitching new ideas internally. 

The Sourcing Analyst will identify top investment opportunities across the healthcare technology sector through research, industry reports, and technology tools.  Once prospects are identified, the Sourcing Analyst will reach out to founders, conduct initial calls, and pitch the top prospects to the senior partners on a weekly basis. 

A successful Sourcing Analyst has the following traits: grit, focus, and curiosity.  We review hundreds of companies before finding a needle in the haystack.  The Sourcing Analyst needs to be a self-starter and be relentless as the most interesting companies are often the hardest to engage with.

The Sourcing Analyst position offers a rare opportunity for highly motivated candidates to gain valuable skills and learn directly from senior partners that have experienced top tier returns. 

 

The Sourcing Analyst position has an anticipated start date in Summer 2025 (or earlier) and will consist of a two-year term.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify compelling companies through individual research, industry reports, and tech sourcing tools.
  • Reach out to founders via emails and calls to set up introductory Zoom meetings.
  • Engage in Zoom meetings with founders to learn more about their business while imparting on the founders a positive impression of Sopris.
  • Efficiently track and manage your pipeline of companies in our CRM.
  • Participate in the weekly exercise of pitching the companies you’ve discovered to the senior partners.
  • Provide comprehensive background context on founders and companies to prepare senior partners for meaningful follow-up conversations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate students graduating in the Spring/Summer 2025 or recent college graduates (2023-2024) with a degree in Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  • Strong financial capabilities. Ability to interpret and analyze common financial statements, understand finance and accounting metrics, and knowledge of business valuation fundamentals. 
  • Experience researching industries and analyzing market trends.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
