University Marketing & Comms - Social Media Ambassador

Job Summary:
University Marketing & Comm - Social Media Ambassador offers an opportunity to connect, inform and build an active community among students, alumni, staff, faculty, and supporters of Susquehanna. As a Social Media Ambassador, students will help to strategically share an authentic student voice through relatable, creative content on the university’s social media platforms. Content can include but is not limited to campus tours, point-of-view experiences, interviews, event coverage and more. This is a non-exempt, non-benefited, temporary position as defined by FLSA standards.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop a minimum of one (1) piece of creative video content each month throughout the semester. 
  • Gather content photography/videography to strategically assist in creating relevant and consistent visual content in video/reel format. 
  • Capture a variety of campus life including but not limited to athletic events, student organizations, academics, events and more. 
  • Stay up to date with latest social media trends and technologies. 
  • Meet with the university’s social media team once a month to discuss content development and ideas. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of social media best practices and the desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of the social media platforms Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and more. 
  • Ability to learn and adhere to university brand standards and marketing best practices. 
  • Ability to work well both individually and as a part of a team. 
  • Strong project management skills to consistently meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to relate to and assist all members of our diverse campus community. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop basic video editing skills. 
  • Expand your knowledge of social media platforms. 
  • Create new ways to engage and educate the university's social media audience.

Experience/Prerequisites

No experience required.

Education          
First year, Sophomore or Junior in any major. 

Prefer at least a 2.5 GPA

Location:         
This student worker position is located on Campus.

Additional Requirements:        

  • The hourly wage is $8.00  per hour.
  • This position is estimated at 3 hours per week.
  • As a part of the application process, we require all applicants to submit a ‘Day in the Life’ video detailing what the average day in their lives looks like. This video should be vertical and under 1 minute long featuring video clips from a day or week in their life. Please submit this video in the "Other Additional Documents" section of the application.There are 3 positions available. 

Physical Demand

  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  •  Position requires the ability to move about the campus. 
  •  Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.  
  • Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. 
  • Working conditions are indoors and outdoors.
