Park Assistant Intern-White Clay Creek State Park

This position is designed to provide an experiential learning opportunity for young people exploring the fields of parks, recreation and cultural/natural resource management and preservation. Candidate will support park administrative operations as the direct assistant to the Superintendent At White Clay Creek State Park. At our park the candidate’s individual interests are taken into consideration while providing experiences in all facets of management.   We also encourage consideration of a special project during their term that as a final product that will help showcase experience and success.

Essential Functions- Park Assistant

Essential functions are fundamental and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties. Duties may include:

• Provide regular customer service to visitors in park as set forth by Park Staff

• Assist with office operations, participate in meetings as assigned

• Litter cleanup and trail, waterway and shoreline cleanup

• Assist Conservation Technicians with grounds work throughout the park

• Direct management of our Parks Etiquette summer campaign, helping trail users understand how to be courteous to one another

• Other projects may include Historic building maintenance/preservation, assist other resource management projects (including wildlife management, land management, visitor services, data collection, trail work, and environmental education), special events set up, logistics, fee boot assistance, and help with Summer Concert series (Wednesday evenings). 

• •Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, good judgement and communication skills. Candidate must be comfortable speaking to and interacting with the general public.

• Driver’s license required to perform the position.

• Some positions may require regular handling of cash
