Food Outreach is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1988, that provides Medically Tailored Meals and nutrition services to enhance the quality of life of men, women, and children living with HIV or cancer. Serving 160 zip codes across Missouri and Illinois, Food Outreach’s work spans seven counties, offering unparalleled services in the region.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and social impact, focusing on fundraising, operations, and program support. The intern will play an integral role in advancing our mission to provide essential nutrition and care to our clients.

Responsibilities May Include:

Fundraising Support

  • Research and identify potential donors, grants, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Assist in planning fundraising events, including soliciting donations for silent auctions.
  • Generate donor reports to support staff solicitations and stewardship.
  • Contribute to marketing and communications efforts, including drafting social media content, photography, and conducting volunteer interviews.
  • Manage donor records, input data, and prepare acknowledgment letters.

Operational and Program Support

  • Perform administrative tasks such as client file management.
  • Collaborate on process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in creating client educational resources and outreach materials.
  • Support grocery center operations, including inventory management, stocking, and client check-in/out.

Qualifications/skills required for this position:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program (fields such as nonprofit management, public administration, environmental studies, food systems, or related disciplines preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.
  • Commitment to treating every client, volunteer, and staff member with dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of background, identity, or circumstances.
  • Adherence to client confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is a plus but not required.
