Habitat Program Assistant
Position Summary:
SCWF seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist in coordinating the Milkweed for Monarchs program, along with planning additional education and outreach regarding habitats in SC. This short-term position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in various aspects of wildlife conservation while working for a community-based non-profit organization. Most work will be done at our downtown Columbia headquarters, with potential for some remote work if personal computer is available.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of outreach/education programs including logistics, organization, marketing, registrations, volunteers, and customer service
- Assist in coordination of the Monarchs & Milkweed program – oversee volunteers and assist with assembly and mailing of 5,000+ seed packets
- Enter program participant data into Customer Relationship Management software
- Assist with receptionist duties, greet public and refer them to appropriate staff members, answer phone, route calls, and take messages
- Participate in outreach and educational events and partner meetings (when available)
- Build appropriate interpersonal relationships with employees, peers, and donors
- Support all staff in clerical tasks and errands as requested
Qualifications:
- Clerical, administrative or customer service experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Google Drive & Zoom
- Interest in nature, wildlife and conservation
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with community contacts
- Self-motivated, organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Enthusiasm for the mission of SCWF and the communities we serve
- Priority goes to college students/graduates pursuing careers in biology/wildlife conservation
