Program Assistant- Immigration Outreach Service Center

The Program Assistant (PA) will work with the legal clinic staff and volunteer attorneys who represent Maryland immigrants and their families as they navigate in their immigration journey. The PA will also assist program staff in coordinating and providing support for the work of the other programs in tutoring K-12 children, and the ESOL, computer and financial literacy classes.

1.    Answer client phone calls and respond as necessary, transferring messages to appropriate staff and maintain call records.
2.   Available to answer the door and to let clients and guests into the building .
3. Schedule legal consultations, and schedule follow-up appointments as necessary. Be a good communicator, treating every client with dignity and respect.
4.  Greet and register legal clinic clients, create client folders and copy necessary ID documents.
5.  Receive and record payments and provide client receipts
6.  Keep comprehensive up-to-date notes of client contact. Notify clients of all activity regarding his/her case, on time and in a clear, concise way they can understand.
7.  Maintain all legal case records, in collaboration with the legal team.
8.  Actively participate in case review and other meetings needed to effectively provide excellent client service.
9.  Accompany the bus driver to pick up and return children for tutoring.
10.  Assist with the ESL and ESOL classes by following up with students, supervising the class and other necessary tasks for the teachers.
11.  Assist the computer and financial literacy teachers as necessary with their classes
12.  Participate in the creation of immigration resources to spread information about immigration issues faced by immigrants and raise community awareness on immigration issues. Social media and graphic design skills are a big plus.
