Instructional Assistant/Tutor
Instructional Assistant University High School seeks a dynamic Instructional Assistant/Tutor to work part-time in our Learning Support Services (LSS) department for a semester-long position from mid-January 2025 to mid-June 2025. Monday through Friday daily hours will be approximately 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, 15 hours per week. (Flexible schedule)
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with adolescents with learning differences, a willingness to support students academically, specifically in math and science, and a desire to collaborate with staff of the LSS department and other faculty members.
The Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing direct assistance to the LSS staff by working directly with individual students and small groups, specifically in math and/or science subjects, This person will also be responsible for proctoring informal and standardized assessments and implementing and monitoring students’ accommodations and goals.
Respect for the confidentiality of students and families is a core component of the program. Other daily responsibilities include record keeping, adapting instructional materials, and clerical duties.
The Ideal Candidate has these Qualifications:
● Competency in at least one of these academic areas: algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, biology, chemistry, and/or other math and science topics
● Experience working with high school students and students with learning differences
● Facility with computer equipment and standard software
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty and the LSS team
● Commitment to the school’s core values of diversity, excellence, personal responsibility, stewardship, creativity, and mutual respect, support, and trust required
● Background check and current authorization to be employed in the U.S. required
