Biological Science Assistant - Fish Health Lab Assistant


This is a permanent part-time position requiring 20 hours of work per week. Please note this position is not eligible for conversion to full-time status. The salary range for this position is $19.78 to $24.81 per hour.

As a permanent part-time Biological Science Assistant – Fish Health Lab Assistant in Madras, Oregon, you will:

Assist with the identification, prevention and control of fish diseases and fish losses and promote the health of Oregon's fish resources specifically in the Deschutes River watershed.

Assist in both upstream and downstream fish health passage issues related to reintroduction of anadromous salmonids and lamprey above the Pelton Round Butte Hydroelectric project.  

Assist the Fish Health Specialist in recommending corrective measures when treatable pathogens are detected in returning adult fish and with recommendations regarding fish health concerns in the passage of fish or eggs, fish transfers and disease control to co-managers and Fish and Wildlife Department administrators.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

Experience with collecting biological data

Experience with fisheries work

Experience in laboratory setting

Anyone who has or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
