Instrumental Music Teacher
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Instrumental Music Teacher to join our vibrant team of educators as an addition to the school’s music team. This position involves teaching band to 5th graders, general music to both 4th and 5th graders, as well as offering individual and small-group band lessons to 5th graders and middle school students.
The perfect candidate should have a passion for music education, experience in working with young musicians of various abilities, and the capability to foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field.
- State teaching certification in Music Education (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Proficiency in teaching band instruments (e.g., woodwinds, brass, percussion).
- Experience teaching elementary or middle school students in a classroom or private lesson setting.

- Knowledge of a variety of music genres and traditions.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Teaching:
- Teach 5th Grade Band, introducing students to various instruments, music reading, and ensemble playing.
- Teach 4th and 5th Grade General Music Classes, teaching foundational music concepts, singing, and appreciation for diverse musical styles and traditions.
Individual and Small Group Instruction:
- Provide individual and small group lessons to 5th-grade band students, helping them build technical skills on their chosen instruments.
- Conduct individual and small group lessons for middle school students, advancing their musicianship and performance abilities.
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate music lessons aligned with school standards and goals.
- Design differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Select an age-appropriate repertoire that challenges and excites students while fostering skill development.
Performance and Events:
- Organize and direct student performances, including concerts and recitals for band students and general music classes.
- Collaborate with school staff to coordinate performances for special school events or assemblies.
Administrative and Professional Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide feedback to students and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to ensure student success and engagement.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school community events.
