The Tenova Inc. internship program is designed to “test the waters” of working in the engineering and steelmaking industry. You will spend your summer working in a specific department on meaningful projects, establishing an understanding of Tenova's culture and processes, as well as developing a business mindset.
The program is a blend of hands-on experiences and opportunities. Throughout the program, you can expect to gain a better understanding of your future potential at Tenova through valuable project work.
All internships last approximately 12 weeks. Your start/end date can vary based on your final exam schedule and needs. Internships are paid and designed to be a step towards joining Tenova with an entry-level position upon graduation.
You will be involved in supporting the Pomini Service team in creating an application and supporting documentation to automatically generate PLC code.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study current internal standards and technologies.
- Collaborate with our experienced Automation Level 1 team to understand the requirements for PLC code generation.
- Create detailed documentation to support the software, including user manuals and technical specifications.
- Test and validate the software to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and ensure the software meets technical specifications and performance requirements.
- Learn and understand machine troubleshooting starting from reading sensor mounted on the machine (electrical side) to comprehend the automation logic in the PLC and in the CNC
To become an intern with Tenova, there are a few key things you’ll need to have/had:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization.
- Familiarity with PLC programming languages.
- Familiarity with ISO (CNC) programming languages
- Knowledge of MS Excel.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C# or Java.
Job Type: Part-time, max 30 hrs
Salary: $15 per hour
