The department of Undergraduate Admissions at Texas State University is seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate student pursuing professional experience. The Campus Tour Guide position allows you to be one of the faces of TXST and showcase your bobcat pride on a daily basis. Located in the LBJ Student Center, Campus Tour Guides lead groups around the San Marcos campus.
After extensive training, Campus Tour Guides welcome guests to Texas State University and give informed campus tours on average 2-3 times per week to groups of prospective students and their parents/guests. On campus groups can range from 5-30 people, and virtually up to 100 people depending on the day.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing office coverage and answering student life questions about the university via phone, Zoom, and face-to-face interactions;
- Knowing, or are willing and able to learn, the location and services of buildings and offices on campus;
- Attending bi-weekly staff meetings;
- Availability to work at least 10 hours per week during office hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) and occasional evening and weekend events;
- Availability to work mandatory weekend events, such as once-per-semester retreats and Bobcat Days; and
- Must have the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
Supervisor
This position reports directly to the Welcome Center Coordinator and Welcome Center Program Director, Alumni and Future Student Welcome Center

- Proficiency: Knowledgeable or willing to learn about building locations and student services on the San Marcos campus. Enrolled as a student at the San Marcos campus for at least one full semester.
- Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas
- Miscellaneous: Be willing to perform other job duties assigned.
Work Schedule

Employee Evaluation Process
Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
Payrate Determination
All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by 0.25 after two long semesters (fall-spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form.
