Nutritionist at USDA research center
The USDA Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC) in Davis, CA is currently seeking a full-time nutritionist to support human nutrition research projects. The WHNRC – located on the UC Davis campus – conducts nutrition interventions and dietary studies on the ways that diet impacts health through the gut microbiome, immune function and other mechanisms (https://www.ars.usda.gov/pacific-west-area/davis-ca/whnrc/).

The nutritionist position will entail active engagement in conducting human nutrition research, including tasks such as:
- Supporting development of protocols, data collection tools and procedures manuals
- Coordinating study activities with participants
- Conducting dietary assessments and other data collection activities
- Compiling nutrition research data
- Creating reports
Successful applicants may be hired at the GS-7 or GS-9 federal employment levels (salary range $55,380 - $88,062 per year, plus federal employee benefits package), depending on applicant qualifications.
- A Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food science, or related field is required
- Additional requirements for the GS-7 level include superior academic achievement in the Bachelor's program (determined by GPA, rank or related criteria), one year of relevant work experience, one year of relevant graduate-level education OR a combination of education and experience
- Additional requirements for the GS-9 level include two years of graduate education in nutrition-related field (leading to Master's degree or equivalent), at least one year of nutrition research-related experience at the GS-7 level, OR a combination of education and experience
