Social Media Content Creator Intern (Remote)

About the Role:

A Social Media Content Creator at Thaddeus will experience hands-on training and apply relevant skills in crafting compelling, high-quality content to amplify the organization’s message and mission across various digital platforms. Thaddeus is looking for individuals who are passionate about using their creativity and storytelling abilities to engage with and inspire our community, particularly through digital content creation for social media, blogs, websites, and more.

The internship provides an opportunity to develop and enhance your content creation skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This internship will expose you to a variety of content formats, including written articles, social media posts, videos, and graphics, all aimed at advancing Thaddeus’ vision of empowerment and social impact.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and curate compelling content for Thaddeus’ social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn) to raise awareness and drive engagement.
  • Develop written content such as blog posts, articles, and success stories that highlight the impact of Thaddeus programs on women and girls in the community.
  • Capture and edit multimedia content, including photography, video, and graphics, to support storytelling and social media campaigns.
  • Assist in implementing a content calendar to plan and schedule posts, ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational goals and community outreach.
  • Stay current with trends in content creation, digital marketing, and social media to propose fresh, innovative content ideas.
  • Collaborate with staff members to produce promotional content that enhances the visibility of Thaddeus programs and events.
  • Support the creation of marketing materials to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms.
  • Engage with online community by responding to comments and messages, fostering a positive digital presence for Thaddeus.
  • Measure and track content performance using social media insights and analytics to evaluate engagement and make data-driven content decisions.
  • Assist in editing and proofreading content to ensure it aligns with the organization's voice, style, and mission.
  • Participate in the Buddy system and act as a mentor/point of contact for new interns transitioning into your team during their induction and onboarding process.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media, Graphic Design, or another related field.
  • Flexible schedule to collaborate on group projects each week.
  • Strong passion for content creation and storytelling, especially related to social causes and empowering women and girls.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and understanding of best practices for engagement.
  • Familiarity with content creation tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), or similar software for creating graphics, videos, and promotional materials.
  • Basic photo/video editing skills and ability to produce engaging multimedia content.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills in a professional manner.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and consistency in content creation.
  • Ability to work virtually via Microsoft Teams and meet deadlines in a remote work setting.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience in content creation, digital media, or social media management, especially within the nonprofit sector.
  • Prior knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is a bonus.
  • Experience with graphic design or familiarity with HTML/CSS.
  • Interest in social justice, empowerment, or nonprofit work, particularly in women’s advocacy or youth development.

Learning Objectives:

  • Content Strategy: Interns will learn how to develop and implement content strategies that align with organizational goals and community engagement objectives.
  • Multimedia Production: Gain hands-on experience in the production of written, visual, and video content for a variety of platforms.
  • Digital Engagement: Learn how to analyze social media performance and optimize content for better community engagement.
  • Brand Development: Understand how to maintain consistent brand messaging through all forms of content while remaining sensitive to the nonprofit’s values and mission.
  • Professional Development: Interns will learn to work within a collaborative team and grow their content creation skills in a professional, purpose-driven setting.

Time Commitment:

  • Must be available to work 15 hours per week (10 of those hours need to be between 8 AM - 6 PM PST to accommodate for mandatory meetings and co-worker collaboration).
  • Must be available for the following virtual weekly meetings:
    • Weekly All Staff Meeting: Tuesdays, 9 AM - 10 AM PST
    • Weekly Department Meeting: Thursdays, 1 PM - 2 PM PST
  • The 6-month internship program is our minimum internship program.
  • The 1-year internship program offers the most extensive experience and professional development opportunities.
