STEM Student Interns

Open Period Dates: 1/20/2025-03/31/2025

Salary Range: $32,638 - $53,282 (Promotion potential GS 05)

Pay scale & grade: GS 3 - GS 5

Mentorship is provided throughout the program.  Individual Development Plan to create and track career planning, professional development, and training activities. Positions offer opportunity for career advancement.

Work schedule: Flexible

  • Biological Science Student Trainee—Series, 0499
  • Engineering Student Trainee—Series, 0899
  • Student Trainee (Interior Design) - Series, 1099

Conversion Potential: (upon graduation): Grade GS-05 - GS-09: $40,990-$126,186 (Promotion potential GS-12)                                

Who May Apply: Post Secondary Students

Interns are hired on a temporary basis for up to one year for an initial period, or for an indefinite period, to complete the educational requirement. Interns may work either part- or full-time. Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program. Upon graduation, may be converted to a permanent position with promotion potential to GS-12.
