Summer Intern - AI

Overview

The Insmed Summer Internship Program gives students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment in the pharmaceutical industry, receive mentoring from highly skilled professionals, and work on dynamic team projects. Our 12-week 2024 Summer Intern program is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship. We are seeking an AI/ML Intern with a passion for new technology and a keen interest in the pharmaceutical industry. This individual will work on groundbreaking projects, utilizing Google Cloud Platform/Snowflake to develop, implement, and optimize AI/ML/Graph models that cater to real-world challenges in the pharma sector. The internship may present opportunities for rotational assignments within the function, and the intern will be assigned goals and objectives that will support the strategic business plan of the company.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • AI/ML Model Development: Assist in the creation, training, and optimization of machine learning models focused on various pharma applications like drug discovery, predictive analytics, patient outcomes, etc.
  • Research & Development: Engage in R&D projects and explore the latest AI/ML technologies and methodologies which can be applied in the pharmaceutical domain.
  • Data Management: Work on data extraction, cleaning, pre-processing, and management utilizing various tools on Google Cloud Platform and/or Snowflake.
  • Algorithm Development: Develop and fine-tune algorithms that cater to predictive modeling, classification, and other analytical requirements in the pharma domain.
  • Collaborative Development: Work collaboratively with data scientists, engineers, and pharma experts to integrate AI/ML models into production on Google Cloud Platform/Snowflake.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation related to model development, algorithms, and project outcomes for future reference and audit purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Currently in full-time pursuit of a Master’s, or advanced level degree in Computer Science / Data Science or related experience developing AI solutions.
  • Hands-on experience or academic knowledge of AI/ML and Graph algorithms and model development.
  • Proficiency in Python, and familiarity with libraries and tools like PyTorch.
  • Experience or familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and Snowflake and its various products and services relevant to AI/ML/Graph (like Vertex, Cortex, Model marketplace etc.)
  • Familiarity with Deep Learning and Graph framework and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with natural language processing techniques (preferably LLM).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving issues.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Salary Range

$25 - $35 an hour
