ZipAssist Student Assistant

Position Summary: ZipAssist manages the main Information Desk in the lobby of Simmons Hall. Student Assistants will assist students, families, and visitors with student services needs and connect them to campus information and resources.

Supervision: ZipAssist, Assistant Director

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors (students & their families, campus visitors) and provide excellent customer service
  • Assist students with financial aid, registration, billing, off-campus living, and other student service needs and teach/instruct students how to use the functions in their MyAkron student portal/ Workday (training provided)
  • Answer phone calls
  • Assist with the needs of the Campus Cupboard
  • Share information and connect students/families to campus resources
  • Provide assistance with projects to Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts offices, as needed

Qualifications or Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills (speaking/listening)
  • Strong phone and customer service skills
  • Ability to thoroughly & clearly provide answers to questions
  • Basic knowledge of campus departments and resources
  • Quick learner
  • High energy
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 gpa
