Family Support Specialist

Family Support Specialist

The Family Support Specialist works collaboratively with Educators to build strengths-based relationships with families, provide access to community resources, and engage families in supportive and respectful ways. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service and cultural sensitivity while addressing family needs and enhancing Educators' effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Support and Training:

  • Provide guidance, training, and technical assistance to Educators.
  • Collaborate with Educators to identify family needs and resources.
  • Offer one-on-one support and attend family meetings when requested.

Resource Coordination:

  • Ensure effective use of organizational resources (e.g., translation services).
  • Develop and maintain a directory of community resources for referrals.
  • Facilitate families' access to services and track referrals through a management system.

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure timely completion of developmental assessments (ASQ) for all enrolled families.
  • Manage voicemail communication and maintain records of interactions.

Professional Development:

  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and agency meetings as required.
  • Complete mandatory training on family engagement and Strengthening Families within the first three months.

General Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, child development, and community resources.
  • Ability to handle high-stress and crisis situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel.
  • Commitment to providing unbiased and ethical support.

The role requires adaptability, professionalism, and a focus on empowering families and supporting Educators in fostering positive outcomes for children and their families.
