
LHSI Intern: Outreach Recruitment and Engagement Core Intern
Program Summary:
This internship is offered as a part of the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program (LHSI). This program connects 125 IU Indianapolis undergraduates per year with internships on campus with faculty and staff in a variety of health and science related campus areas/programs. All LHSI internships start in August 2025 and end in May 2026 and are paid $13/hour for up to 10 hours per week. Work-study is accepted but not required.

Overview of the internship site: The Indianapolis Alzheimer’s Disease Outreach Recruitment and Engagement Core is looking for motivated candidates interested in finding out more about memory, dementia and other neurological diseases as well as research studies dealing with memory issues. The Outreach Recruitment and Engagement Core is one of the 8 Cores (Administrative, Data, Genetics, Education, Neuroimaging, Outreach and Pathology) in the IADRC. The Outreach Recruitment a Engagement Core conducts outreach and engagement activities to patients, research participants, caregivers and family members, healthcare professionals, and the community at largeas well as recruit and retain a diverse group of research participants, with a focus on underrepresented groups who are at higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Research support for Research Coordinators including data entry, electronic and physical file management, sending mailings, and chart preparation.
Work Environment and Dress Code: The work is performed primarily in an office setting with dress code: business casual
Project-specific qualifications: Neuroscience background is NOT required, but is helpful. Successful candidates are mature, responsible, proactive, willing to ask questions, are organized and detail-oriented.
Hours per week: flexible based on student needs (10 maximum); flexible within regular work hours

LHSI Qualifications
must be graduating May 2027 or after (usually a current freshman or sophomore in Spring 2025)
Current full time IU Indianapolis undergraduate in 2025-26
minimum overall GPA of 2.0
