Design Associate

Job Title: Design Associate

Location: Raleigh NC

The Role: As a Design Associate, you’ll play a foundational role in supporting the creative team while building your skills and experience in product design. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging designer to contribute to impactful projects, learn from experienced mentors, and grow within a forward-thinking company. You’ll assist in the development of product concepts, conduct research, and collaborate across teams to bring designs to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of product concepts and designs.
  • Create sketches and renderings to support the creative team’s vision.
  • Conduct trend and material research to inform design work.
  • Collaborate with 3D modelers and engineers to ensure design intent is met.
  • Support team projects with an open and flexible mindset.

Key Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Photoshop & Illustrator, Rhino, Zbrush, Grasshopper, Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Houdini, and Autodesk (Inventor, Fusion 360, 3Ds Max), Cinema4D (proficiency is a plus).
  • Strong interest in sketching, rendering, and storytelling.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow as a designer.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Preferred but Not Required:

  • Educational background in design or related fields.
  • Previous internship or freelance experience in product design.
  • Understanding of NURBS modeling, parametric modeling, SubD modeling and mesh modeling, as well as surface topology, UV mapping and material texturing.
