Freeman's | Hindman is pleased to offer a distinctive opportunity for highly motivated individuals to gain firsthand experience within a leading art auction house. Our Summer Internship Program provides Interns with unparalleled exposure to the daily operations of our esteemed organization and its pivotal role within the art world.


 

At Freeman’s | Hindman, we believe the most valuable learning occurs through hands-on involvement. Interns will rotate across several key departments, gaining experience in a variety of tasks and projects tailored to the current needs of the business. This immersive internship allows participants to deepen their understanding of the auction process, art valuation, client services, and more, while contributing to the success of our operations.


 

Key Responsibilities

Interns will have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Assisting in the cataloguing and documentation of collections.

• Conducting in-depth research on artworks, artists, provenance, museums, and related topics.

• Supporting the gallery team in auction preparation, including setup and coordination.

• Assisting with client communications and service-related tasks.

• Contributing to administrative duties across various departments.

• Collaborating on special projects as directed by department heads.

• Assisting specialists in researching property for sale, valuations, and pricing sessions.

• Responding to internal requests and supporting client-facing teams during sale weeks.

• Gaining insight into back-office processes and procedures that support auction operations.


 

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear, professional, and efficient interactions with both internal teams and clients.

• A proactive mindset, with excellent follow-up skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Research and analytical capabilities with a strong interest in the art world.

• Composure under pressure, with the ability to work effectively during high-intensity periods such as auction weeks.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn Freeman’s | Hindman’s internal systems.

• A collaborative, team-oriented approach, with a readiness to assist across various functions as needed.

• Availability for the full duration of the program.

• Open to rising juniors, seniors, graduate students, and international students enrolled in U.S.-based institutions.
