Park Maintenance Worker – Part-Time
Rate: $11.00/hour – starting rate based on prior experience and education
Location: Multiple park locations throughout Lake County, OH
Position Description:
The Park Maintenance Worker performs building and grounds maintenance at various Lake Metroparks parks and facilities. Responsible for the daily upkeep of parks with particular attention to public spaces. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs mowing and general landscaping throughout the year and snow removal in winter by means of plowing, snow blowing, shoveling and/or treatment.
- Performs custodial tasks before and after daily visitation, park programs, rentals, and community events including sweeping and mopping the floor, washing tables, emptying trash/recycling, washing windows, cleaning restrooms and stocking with toilet paper and hand towels.
- Performs special projects as assigned including construction, painting, electrical and plumbing.
- Orders and stocks maintenance supplies and equipment. Maintains equipment in good working order.
- Assists with set-up and janitorial duties associated with large special events and park programs.
- Troubleshoots commercial HVAC systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 1 year custodial experience and/or ability equivalent to that of the position preferred.
- At least 1 year experience in working with outside vendors, contractors preferred.

- Ability to multitask.
- Skilled in customer service and interpersonal communication with the ability to interact professionally with all types of people.
- Ability to write and speak in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to operate vehicles/truck and trailer properly.
- Ability to organize.
- Ability to analyze issues.
- Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Variable work schedule, up to 28 hours per week.
- Occasionally required to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
