Description of Job
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides mental health services to inmates under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals and in compliance with mental health guidelines;
Participate in mental health treatment services and special unit management;
Provide input into mental health assessments, participate in recreation groups, in-reach, psychiatric and tele-health sessions;
Assist in daily management and monitor assigned inmates with mental illness;
Schedule and facilitate mental health appointments
Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary clinical team which provides mental health treatment for inmates with mental illness;
Provide input needed for treatment and management planning to include observations of inmate behaviors, problems, symptoms and response to treatment interventions;
Inform inmates regarding mental healthcare supervision and treatment;
Listen to inmate concerns and provide counseling and direction;
Communicate regarding complaints, problems, incidents and inmate behavioral management issues;
Respond to complaints, problems, actions, or behaviors within scope of practice;
Document both handwritten and electronically in an accurate and timely manner to maintain inmate mental health records under the supervision of a work leader.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in one of the following mental health fields: counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy. You must attach a copy of your transcripts that contain your name, name of the accredited institution, type of degree received and date degree was conferred.
Substitutions:
Related experience in mental health services will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Work experience less than full time will be prorated.

Ability to provide direct mental health support services to clients;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across facility programs and with external agencies;
Ability to work independently under supervision;
Ability to provide comprehensive clinical documentation;
Ability to work with a diverse population of clients;
Ability to provide mental health support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
Ability to read and comprehend the English language;
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind.
Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
