Corrections Officer

Job Overview
As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the Ontario County Jail. This position requires a strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage conflict effectively. You will be tasked with supervising inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and inmates.

Duties
- Supervise inmate activities and conduct regular inspections of the facility.
- Monitor CCTV systems to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations while maintaining order among inmates.
- Prepare detailed reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities.
- Respond to emergencies and manage conflicts in a calm and effective manner.
- Conduct searches of inmates and their living areas for contraband.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is a plus..
- Experience in law enforcement or military service is advantageous.
- Strong report writing skills to document incidents accurately.
- Ability to manage conflicts effectively while maintaining professionalism.
- Must pass background checks and meet physical fitness standards.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
