Intern, Quality Assurance, Parenteral Filling

This position is located at Biogen’s Parenteral Filling (PF) facility in RTP, North Carolina, and is assigned to the Quality Assurance unit. The candidate will work alongside the QA Shop Floor team to ensure the products manufactured at the site meet Biogen’s high commitment to quality and patient safety. QA Shop Floor’s efforts allow for the timely release, supply and overall quality of medicine to patients that rely on Biogen products to improve the quality of their lives.
The QA Shop Floor team supports this goal by providing oversight directly within the manufacturing cleanrooms and helps with identifying and resolving issues in real-time. QA Shop Floor associates are trained to ensure the manufacturing processes are compliant with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP). This includes inspection of cleanroom areas, personnel adherence to cleanroom behaviors, compliance with governing procedures, review of Good Documentation Practices (GDP), data integrity, and more.
Position Description
As an intern, you will:
- Attend tier meetings and integrate with cross-functional teams to understand objectives, strategies, and prioritize assignments.
- Work with team leads for training opportunities until qualified to perform independently.
- Collaborate with peers and supervisors on assignments. Communicate effectively on progress or obstacles which impede progress.
- Complete projects aimed at improving regulatory compliance and visibility of QA Shop Floor metrics.
Example projects may include:
- Learn and define PF QA Shop Floor metrics and develop a holistic tracking and monitoring system.
- Support the transition of acceptable quality limit (AQL) performance from manufacturing personnel to QA Shop Floor personnel, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to procedural changes, batch record revisions, OJT creation and/or updates, and alignment with cross functional teams.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend technical/scientific documents (SOPs, Work Instructions, Validation Studies, etc.).
- Working knowledge of office computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
- Effective and proactive communication.
- Ability to work both independently and foster teamwork.
- Critical thinking, creative problem solving.
To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university, with a graduation date no earlier than August 2025.
Education
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences (B.A. or B.S.) or higher, in a scientific or related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, etc.).
