SNY Content News Desk Internship Summer 2025

SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, UConn women’s basketball and all things New York sports.

The Content desk is responsible for the day-to-day news coverage planning and field production. The Content Desk Intern will report to the Manager, Content Supervision and assist in the production of daily programs such as “SportsNite”, “Baseball Night in NY”, “Mets Pre Game”, etc. Beyond the primary responsibilities, the intern will support the Digital Content group with various production, including research, audio/video production, and news gathering.

Responsibilities: 

• Screen and log games, press conferences, interviews, and taped programs to prepare for editing.
• Conduct research on New York sports teams to enhance the content production calendar, graphic boards.
• Procure footage from external sources, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.  
• Perform ad hoc tasks and additional duties, as assigned. 

Desired Competencies:

• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Premiere, and AVID editing software is a plus.
• Attentiveness to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
• Demonstrated aptitude for clear communication and effective teamwork.  

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the program’s duration, with a current academic standing of junior or above.
• Pursing or graduated with an undergraduate degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or related fields.
• Knowledge of SNY and exposure to New York sports.
• Passion for digital and televised sports broadcasting.
  Proficient in communication in both writing and speaking, with a creative approach and strong interpersonal capabilities. 

Compensation: 

• The hourly rate for this student internship $16.50.

Location & Time Commitment: 

• This role is onsite at our New York City, NY office, requiring a commitment of a minimum of 14 hours weekly or 3 days per week, preferably on Tuesday through Friday. Shifts will primarily occur during the late morning/early afternoon, with occasional night shift.
